Rockit Academy Performs "Influences of Rock"
In 1951, Cleveland based disc jockey, Alan Freed began playing a music style for which he coined a term "Rock and Roll." Featured in this Rockit performance are some of the early pioneers of rock and roll and the artists they have inspired. The evening's event will feature live musical performances by the Rockit Academy and will include selections from David Bowie, Elvis Presley, Greta Van Fleet, Led Zeppelin, Amy Winehouse, Ray Charles, and more.
?The Rockit Live Foundation is New Jersey's leading rock band program for young musicians, ages 8-18 and college level. Rockit, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, helps nurture, inspire and enrich the lives of young musicians through live music education partnered with Brookdale Community College in Lincroft New Jersey. Rockit also provides professional development and music scholarships while emphasizing the importance of community charity efforts. The Rockit All-Stars have performed classics such as Who's Next, Dark Side of the Moon, Woodstock, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and many more. Rockit Advisory Board members, Maureen and Steven Van Zandt, Carmine Appice, Eddie Brigati, Susan Brigati, Ricky Byrd, Steve Lacy, Jacquie Lee, Rich Russo and Mark Weiss lend their talent and support to a cause they keep close to their hearts. Rockit alumni having gone on to tour with Steve Vai, perform with Keith Urban, sing on Broadway and become finalists on The X-Factor and NBC's The Voice. For more info, visit rockitacademy.org.
